We are developing a new generation of cell specific, biocompatible surface coatings for medical device and cell therapy applications. Each new polymer is designed to further enhance a device or cell’s interaction with its surrounding tissue.
A ‘matrix’ approach has been developed over many years, drawing on the team’s experience in the observation of polymer/tissue interactions at the cellular level. By modelling the composition and surface distribution of select functional groups that occur in natural polymer systems within the body whilst recognising the individual physical demands of device manufacture, the team has developed a synthetic ‘template’ approach as the basis for the design of its surface coating technology.
Select polymers from the accelerate™ Technology range have undergone extensive in-vitro and preclinical testing, conducted through collaborations with leading academic and clinical centres worldwide.
